Waltermelon is a hydration tracking mobile app (owned and operated by Paweł Ławiński and Mateusz Tylman) that allows you to log beverages, monitor your intake, view your drinking history, track your progress, manage your profile, and connect with friends. We respect your privacy, and this Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share your personal data. By using the Waltermelon app, you agree to this Privacy Policy. 2. Information We Collect
- Personal Data for Hydration Calculations: We collect certain personal details you provide that are needed to calculate your hydration needs, such as your name, age, gender, weight, whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding, your activity level, and your climate/environment (to adjust for weather/temperature). This information helps us personalize your daily water intake goals.
- Authentication Data: To make signing up easy, Waltermelon supports Single Sign-On (SSO) via Apple or Google. If you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, we receive basic information from your account (like your name and email address) to create and authenticate your Waltermelon account.
- Public Profile Information: If you choose to create a public profile in the app, it can include a short bio and your hydration-related achievements (for example, your longest streak or best daily intake score). This profile information is visible to other users you connect with (such as your friends in the app).
3. How We Use Your Data
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Providing and Personalizing the Service: To operate the app and provide you with its core features – for example, calculating personalized hydration goals and showing your progress. We also use your data to personalize your experience and make improvements to Waltermelon.
- Account Management & Progress Tracking: To create and maintain your account, allow you to log in, and display your hydration logs, history, and achievements (like tracking your daily intake and streaks).
- Processing In-App Purchases: To handle subscriptions or one-time purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play. (All payment information is processed by the App Store/Google Play — we do not store your credit card details.)
- Security and Fraud Prevention: To protect the integrity of our service. For example, we may use data to detect and prevent fraud, fix technical issues, and ensure the app is secure and being used properly.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We only share your data with a few trusted third-party services that help us run and improve Waltermelon, all within the EU. These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by strict privacy obligations. The main services we use are:
- Google Analytics – for app analytics (helping us understand how users use Waltermelon).
- AppsFlyer – for marketing attribution and analytics (to see how users discover our app).
- RevenueCat – for managing subscriptions and in-app purchase validation.
- Supabase and Powersync – for our app's database, user authentication, and backend infrastructure.
All data transfers and storage with these partners take place within the European Union. We ensure that your data is protected by GDPR-compliant safeguards when handled by these providers. We will also share information if we are legally required to do so (for example, to comply with a court order or law enforcement request), but only in strict accordance with privacy laws.
5. User Rights & Data Retention
As a user, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: You can ask us to correct or update your information if it's inaccurate or incomplete.
- Deletion: You have the right to delete your account and personal data. (You can delete your Waltermelon account at any time via the app's settings, or by contacting us.)
- Restriction: You can request that we limit the processing of your data in certain circumstances (for example, if you believe it's inaccurate, you can ask us to pause processing until it's corrected).
You can exercise these rights through the app (for instance, by using our account deletion feature) or by contacting us at our support email. When you delete your account or request data deletion, we will immediately erase or anonymize your personal data in our systems. We retain your information only for as long as necessary to provide the service and for legitimate purposes like maintaining records (or as required by law). After that, your data is either securely deleted or stripped of identifying details so it can no longer be linked to you.
6. Children's Privacy
Waltermelon is not intended for children under 13 years of age. If you are under 13, you may only use the app with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental permission. If we become aware that a child under 13 is using Waltermelon without proper consent, we will delete their personal data.
We also do not use any personal data from our users – especially minors – for targeted advertising. We avoid collecting any sensitive information from minors, and only gather the minimum data needed for the app to function (such as basic hydration logs). Parents or guardians who believe their child under 13 may have used the app can contact us to request deletion of the child's data.
7. Changes & Contact
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect improvements or changes in our practices. If we make any important changes, we will notify you via the app (for example, by an in-app notification or message).
